Riding in Algeria
The best time for a motorcycle tour in Algeria is spring or autumn. The northern region, including the coastline and the Tell Atlas, has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters.
Temperatures vary with altitude: the plains and coast can get quite hot, while the Hoggar Mountains are much cooler. Winter on the coast often brings rain, while the central mountainous areas face harsh winters, with the Tlemcen, Kabylie, and Atlas mountains covered in snow from December to March.
The Sahara region has an arid climate with minimal rainfall, making November to February the ideal time to visit, though temperatures between day and night can differ greatly.
Because of the extreme heat, summer is not recommended, but spring and autumn are perfect for a trip.
You need understandable documents.
The police can require the immediate presentation of all driving documents by the roadside, including license, logbook, and insurance, is common in most jurisdictions. If you cannot these documents in a language that the police can understand, there is a likelihood of having your bike impounded.
It is also worth printing off the Constat Amiable D’accident Automobile, which is used across numerous and other countries (the downloadable one on our website has English as well as French).
How to get to Algeria
Ride through France & Spain
How ever you get to mainland Europe, either the tunnel or ferry, ride through France and Spain, a great trip but takes time to fully appreciate the route.
Ride through Spain
This is my preferred option, works out quickest unless you ride almost none stop from Calais. Arrive in Spain refreshed and ready for the ride.
