Kirkstone Pass, located in the English Lake District in Cumbria, is a mountain pass sitting at an altitude of 1,489 feet (454 meters).
The District’s highest road pass is the A592, which runs between Ambleside in the Rothay Valley and Patterdale in the Ullswater Valley. With a steep gradient nearing 1 in 4, it offers a stunning view down into Patterdale, where Brothers Water takes center stage.
The Kirkstone Pass Inn sits near the summit, once serving as an important stop for coaching travelers. Today, it mainly welcomes tourists and holds the title of the third-highest public house in England.
