A cheap second hand bike that is hard to beat!

I might be biased, given that I own a 2010 Gladius 650!
The Suzuki Gladius SFV650 is a naked bike that Suzuki launched for the 2009 model year, aiming to replace the SV650. However, in most countries, the half-fairing second-generation SV650S was still sold alongside the Gladius until 2014.
The motorcycle showcased a refreshed, contemporary aesthetic, featuring a tubular trellis-style frame reminiscent of the first-generation SV650. It was equipped with an upgraded engine aimed at improving fuel efficiency, reducing emissions, and enhancing both peak power and low- to mid-range torque. Additionally, the seat height was reduced from 800 mm (31.5 in) to 785 mm (30.9 in), offering improved accessibility and comfort for riders.
At the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, Suzuki announced the introduction of a smaller-capacity 400cc Gladius SFV400, specifically designed for the Japanese market. In 2017, the Gladius was succeeded by the third-generation SV650.
The Suzuki Gladius 650 is an updated take on the SV650, and given the SV650’s solid reputation, it’s natural to wonder how Suzuki could make it better. The Gladius sports a sleeker, more modern look, but the real upgrade is under the hood—a smooth, punchy V-twin engine that’s 10% more reliable and efficient than the model it replaces.

Suzuki has essentially taken all the best aspects of the SV650 and infused them into the Gladius 650, adding some fun and exciting upgrades. It’s an excellent entry-level bike that still holds its own for seasoned riders, all while being a great budget-friendly choice. It is slightly on the heavier side at 202 kg, with some reports of tipping on sharper corners, but as long as you keep that in mind while riding, it shouldn’t be much of an issue.
At £4,500 when brand new, this bike is a real bargain, yet it has the style of a machine that could easily cost twice as much. You won’t find many flashy extras for the price and the tech is pretty basic, but in terms of looks, finish, and ride quality, the Gladius 650 is a steal. Think reliable, think affordable, think fun — that’s exactly the kind of experience you can expect from it.
