Thirty years after making his debut on the Mountain Course, John McGuinness MBE achieved another remarkable milestone, clinching victory in the Historic Senior race during Monday afternoon’s program at the 2026 Classic TT.
Representing Winfield Paton, he secured his fourth victory in the class, crossing the finish line 26.8 seconds ahead of Shaun Anderson of Beugger Racing Paton, with Mike Browne of Peter Lodge Racing Norton ES2 completing the podium in third place.
In the winner’s enclosure, McGuinness expressed high praise for the Paton, commending the exceptional performance of the machine and the dedication of the team. He remarked that the bike was performing superbly, crediting the team’s hard work, and described it as a pleasure to ride. He added that the conditions were excellent and that the three laps had been thoroughly enjoyable.
Reflecting on three decades of racing around the Isle of Man, he remarked, “I wish I were 24 again.” He went on to acknowledge the pivotal role his parents played in his journey, stating, “My mother and father put me on a bike when I was just three years old—I would not be here today without their decision to do so.”
