The Silk Road was a network of Asian trade routes active from the second century BCE until the mid-15th century. 

Spanning over 4,000 miles (6,400 km) on land, it played a central role in facilitating economic, cultural, political, and religious interactions between the Eastern and Western worlds.

Atyrau, known until 1991 as Guryev, is a city in Kazakhstan and the capital of Atyrau Region. Atyrau is a transcontinental city, at the mouth of the Ural River on the Caspian Sea, between Europe and Asia.



Kostanay or Qostanai is a city located on the Tobol River in northern Kazakhstan. It is the administrative center of the Kostanay Region.


Atbasar is a town in Atbasar District, Akmola Region of the northern Kazakhstan. It was founded in 1845. Atbasar is the 44th biggest city in Kazakhstan. Atbasar lies at an altitude of 282 meters above sea level.


Ekıbastūz is a city in Pavlodar Region, northeastern Kazakhstan. It is the administrative center of the Ekibastuz City Administration.


Semey from 1917 to 1920, is a city in eastern Kazakhstan, in the Kazakh part of Siberia. When Abai Region was created in 2022, Semey became its administrative centre.


Berel’ is rumoured to have existed since the 7th century, but official records indicate that the village was incorporated into the Katonkaragay district in 1928, becoming a selsoviet with its own primary school. The selsoviet was merged with another selsoviet “Uryl” in 1957. The village has not been municipally independent since.
