CFMoto is preparing to unveil their new 1000MT-X parallel-twin adventure bike, boasting impressive specs and plenty of power to challenge established contenders like the Honda Africa Twin.

To highlight their new model plans, the Hangzhou company created a special ‘1000MT-X Crafted’ version for the EICMA trade show in Milan earlier last month, aiming to show just how much of the production model can be customized.
The standard bike was showcased alongside it and is positioned to surpass the current 800MT-X family as the newest and largest adventure model in the CFMoto lineup.
The upcoming adventurer packs a 946.2cc parallel twin-cylinder engine, delivering a claimed 111.3bhp at 8500rpm and 77.5lb.ft of torque at 6250rpm. It’s compliant with the latest Euro5+ emissions standards and comes paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.
The standard Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin puts out a claimed 100.6bhp at 7500rpm from its 1084cc parallel-twin engine, along with 82.7lb.ft of torque at a slightly lower 5500rpm.
The Chinese firm claims the new engine weighs just 56 kg, with weight savings coming from alloy crankcases and refined camshaft design. It’s reportedly undergone over 100,000 km (about 62,140 miles) of development testing, with throttle response and rideability enhanced by Bosch MSE 9.0 electronic fuel injection.
Bosch has also equipped the bike with a six-axis IMU, cornering ABS, and a three-stage traction control system, along with a portrait-mounted 8-inch touchscreen TFT display, full LED lighting, and five riding modes.
Similar to the smaller 800s, which use a KTM-designed 799cc liquid-cooled parallel twin, the 1000 features a raised single-exit exhaust that runs along the right side of the bike.
The Crafted model features an Akrapovič end can, paired with chunky exhaust piping beneath the engine that likely contains multiple catalysts and sensors. In contrast, the standard can is much larger, flatter, and finished in black.
The engine is housed in a trellis frame with a double-sided swing arm, while the special version sports bulky external crash bars flanking the fuel tank’s shoulders, providing mounts for small GIVI bags and spotlights.
While not a standard feature on the finished machine, it comes equipped with a GIVI roll bag strapped over the pillion seat, with both pieces of luggage sporting special CFMoto badging.
Outside of the Milan show special, the seat height is reportedly between 830 and 870mm, offering 230mm of suspension travel at both ends when set to its tallest position. Braking duties are handled by Brembo, featuring dual 320mm front discs and radially mounted calipers for solid stopping power.
The suspension, provided by KYB, is fully adjustable at both ends as standard. Equally impressive are the tyres, featuring spoked 18-inch rear and 21-inch front rims fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STRs.
CFMoto is also offering tyre pressure monitoring, a quickshifter, heated grips and seat, cruise control, and an adjustable screen and handlebars—all as standard features. With the smaller 800MT-X priced from £8299 on the road, this larger version could be introduced at a very competitive price as well.
