Honister Pass is a scenic mountain pass in the Lake District, Cumbria, England. Found along the B5289 road, it connects Seatoller in Borrowdale Valley to Gatesgarth at the southern tip of Buttermere. Climbing to 1,167 feet (356 m), it’s one of the region’s highest and steepest routes, with gradients reaching 1-in-4 (25%). The saddle at the top, marking the watershed, is called Honister Hause, named after the Cumbrian term for such a feature.
Buttermere is a picturesque lake in the Lake District of North West England. It’s about 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) long, up to 0.54 kilometres (0.34 miles) wide, covering an area of 0.9 square kilometres (0.35 sq mi). The lake reaches a depth of 28.6 metres (94 ft) and sits at an elevation of 100.3 metres (329 ft) above sea level.
