So, what is actually left to do?
That’s a very good question, if you had asked me this question a couple of months ago, I would really have hoped to confidently say ‘nothing’. I was hoping by now to be riding the bike to work and back, getting some miles on it, getting used to it whilst learning its quirks and hopefully finding all the little problems that arise after a rebuild.
But alas, we are in the situation we are in. The carbs (CRC restoration services) will be refitted early next week and fingers crossed that is all the main issues sorted.
After that, the engine needs a oil change, but years of crud built up on the carbs just highlights even more the need to flush the engine. So I am going to go a little crazy here, I will drop the current engine oil, put some oil in, warm the bike up and put a engine flush in, then drop the oil again and replace the oil filter (HiFlo Filtro)with some decant engine oil (All Oils).
Then lastly, I need to scrub in the tyres (RS Motorworx), so a few laps of the local lanes minimum is needed.
Positive thoughts only please…
Nige has teamed up with 12 volt planet, Atom batteries, All Oils, Beeline navigation, Dr Wack, Goodridge, HiFlo filtro, Lomo, Lone Rider, MandP, MSG bike gear, Pinlock, Rippl impact gear, RS Motorworx, SMD automotive and Ultimate Addons to complete this challenge. Without the help of these companies this wouldn’t have been possible.
