For commuting, I don’t think you can beat textile trousers, they offer safety and water resistance in a garment you can put on over other clothes, with the added bonus of a removable thermal layer to keep you warmer in winter.
I have owned a good few pairs of textile trousers in my time, but these Oxford Metro 2 have lasted so well. You wouldn’t know mine are two years old at all. I especially love the zip pocket rather than a velcro flap like most seam to use, there great for putting my phone in.
I have used these when touring when I the weather was not as good and they are more than comfy enough.
The Metro 2.0 offers year-round functionality due to its waterproof drop liner construction, removable thermal liner and impressive ventilation for a package capable of tackling cold, wet commutes and on-road adventure riding.
Features:
- Protection: CE A certified motorcycle pant (EN 17092-4:2020); CE Level 1 knee protectors included (EN 1621-1:2012); hip protector pockets (armour sold separately); reflective printing for night-time visibility; YKK short connecting zip allows jacket attachment for a secure protective fastening.
- Climate Control: waterproof fixed membrane with taped seams; removable thermal lining.
- Fabric & Construction: HD-POLY – high density 600 denier polyester outer shell; durable ripstop fabric at the knee increases abrasion and tear resistance; bar tack stitching reinforces stress points; YKK VISLON zipper, with press stud and hook and bar fastening at the fly closure.
- Adjustability & Fit: elasticated hook and loop adjustment at the waist; large hem opening allows for winter boots to fit underneath; hook and loop cuff adjustment ensures a secure boot seal.
- Storage: 2 side pockets with zipper closure and water-resistant plackets.
