Perth is the capital city of Western Australia. It is the fourth-most-populous city in Australia, with a population of over 2.3 million within Greater Perth as of 2023. The world’s most isolated major city by certain criteria, Perth is part of the South West Land Division of Western Australia, with most of Perth’s metropolitan area on the Swan Coastal Plain between the Indian Ocean and the Darling Scarp.

Jarrahdale State Forrest, Jarrah Forest is recognised globally as a significant hotspot of plant biodiversity and endemism, and is also managed for land uses such as water, timber and mineral production, recreation, and conservation.

Wave Rock is a natural rock formation that is shaped like a tall breaking ocean wave. The “wave” is about 15 m (50 ft) high and around 110 m (360 ft) long. It forms the north side of a solitary hill, which is known as “Hyden Rock”. This hill, which is a granite inselberg, lies about 2 miles (3 km) east of the small town of Hyden and 184 miles (296 km) east-southeast of Perth, Western Australia.

Lake King is a town in the eastern Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, 288 miles (464 km) from Perth along State Route 40 between Ravensthorpe and Newdegate.

The Margaret River is a river in southwest Western Australia. In a small catchment, it is the eponym of the town and tourist region of Margaret River. There is a weir across the river just above the town. The mouth of the river is a small estuary, closed to the ocean by a sandbar that opens only seasonally. Margaret River is presumed to be named after Margaret Wyche, cousin of John Garrett Bussell (founder of Busselton) in 1832.

Busselton is a city in the South West region of the state of Western Australia, approximately 140 miles (220 km) south-west of Perth. Busselton has a long history as a popular holiday destination for Western Australians; however, the closure of the Busselton Port in 1972 and the contemporaneous establishment of the nearby Margaret River wine region have seen tourism become the dominant source of investment and development, supplemented by services and retail.

Dwellingup State Forest covers an extensive area of the Darling Range from north of Dwellingup all the way to Harvey. A one-and-a-half-hour drive south of Perth, it contains some magnificent jarrah/marri forest including many areas of impressively tall and ancient trees. Tracks, trails and back roads through the forest lead to lakes and dams, picnic areas, and campgrounds With its close proximity to Perth, Dwellingup is an ideal destination for group accommodation, events and retreats.

Perth was founded by Captain James Stirling in 1829 as the administrative centre of the Swan River Colony. The city is situated on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people, where Aboriginal Australians have lived for at least 48,000 years. Perth was named after the city of Perth in Scotland.
