Just as the Japanese emerged seemingly out of nowhere to dominate the global motorcycle market in the 1970s, it now feels like a Chinese takeover might not be far off.
Chinese brands have already made their mark in the UK, shedding their old reputation with companies like Voge and CF Moto delivering quality bikes at affordable prices. Kove and QJMotor are making waves in world championship racing, while India’s Royal Enfield has proven that consumers are eager for good quality bikes at the right price, no matter their origin. With many Chinese firms teaming up with European manufacturers, a shake-up in the traditional order seems inevitable—if not by 2025, then certainly in the near future.
