Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness has acknowledged that his racing career will not continue indefinitely, as he prepares to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his debut in the iconic event this year.

The Morecambe man raced at the TT for the first time in 1996 and went on to become one of the most famous names in the history of the iconic race, winning 23 times.

Now in the twilight of his career, McGuinness says he “doesn’t know” when he will hang up his leathers for good.

John McGuinness is a legendary motorcycle road racer celebrated for his impressive record at the Isle of Man TT, where he’s claimed 23 victories, ranking him third in the event’s all-time standings. He’s also taken home wins in various other competitions, including the Superbike and TT Zero titles. Riding for the factory Honda team since 2006, McGuinness is still going strong in the 2026 season. Notably, he was the first to lap at over 130 mph and holds the record for the most Senior TT wins with seven.
